some of the pictures feel vaguely familiar....

Awkward family pictures- we all have them (all different patterns of plaid shirts, mom?) and here is a site devoted to them:

Why I love our library

"In the Know" atWCBPL

They have their own blog!  Not to mention, they have a fabulous children's department.  Since Adler was 4 months old (never too young!), we have gone to the storytime they offer for preschoolers (they offer it twice a week, I might add!), complete with crafts, special parties and lots of stories.  We haven't been able to go regularly this past year because it falls right in the middle of Hazel's nap; but I look forward to getting back into it because its such a fun time.  I still remember storytime and summer reading programs from my own childhood and like to think it is where my love of the written word began.

Anyway, how awesome is it that they have their own blog!

how come no-one told me?

All I have been hearing lately is, "Pioneer Woman this" and "Pioneer Woman that" on the internetsies.

So I checked out her website right here and think that maybe I have found a new friend! She's funny and honest; she's artistic; she cooks (which is what all the hype about her that I have heard is about); she takes pictures; she helps cows have babies; and she homeschools her 4 children, among other things.

I have spent the better part of the kids' naps looking at the website and I encourage you to check it out for yourself. That is, if you haven't already, which you probably already have since I was the last woman on earth to find out about her, apparently.

Oh Claudia!

I always thought the coolest teenager ever was Claudia from The Babysitters Club. She was so fashion forward. Check "What Claudia Wore" here. Its a perfect homage to her creative genius. The author is not always complimentary of her taste, but it is pretty funny stuff to read if you were into TBC like I was- she includes lots of excerpts with her own running commentaries of them.

Now, after that, we are going to move on to my teenage era- the 90's. For shame.

Its very unfortunate that my teenage years were the years of flannel (per "My So Called Life.") I had no chance to let my hair down like Claudia did in the 80's.

Booty Camp and other ruminations

So, no, Booty Camp is not a camp for young beyonces and jloes. Its a potty training camp in Chicago designed by the "Potty Whisperer" herself, Wendy Sweeney. She claims that she can potty train your child in one day. I am in the midst of potty training preparations and wonder if a trip to Chicago would be worth it? I think I will stick to some old fashion methods for now, but I will keep her number just in case!

So, I have been in a bit of a writing funk lately so I haven't really given much--I haven't come out of it yet, so don't expect any grand writing today. I have just been busy lately. I always wondered how in the world women stayed busy when they weren't working (or not working much) and stayed at home all day. Ha. I got it now. Totally.

My older sister beat me to it, but I wanted to announce that my hermanita pequeña Brittany now has a blog (don't ask me to pronounce the name of it though- leave it up to my glamourous sister to come up with something that only clever people understand). Stop by and giver her a blogger's welcome (that means comment people).

To those of you who I sent an email out to regarding paper towel rolls for VBS- just a friendly reminder- keep saving them! I will contact you in a few days for pick up.

Okay, that's it. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Prayer

Please keep little Ethan and his family in your prayers today and in the coming weeks. He needs them!
