The last post I will make on Ad's first day of school

Just a quick update- not feeling particularly clever right now...

Ad has his first official day yesterday and did so great. I dropped him off and told him I would be back in a few hours and he was all like, "okay mom, got it, now get out already" or at least, that was what it looked like to me. I peaked in the window for a few minutes and he was busy with puzzles. When I picked him up 3 hours later, he seemed quite happy. The teacher had them all sitting quietly at the table (um, there were 8 of them. sitting. quietly. those words just don't seem to fit, do they?) So, I guess the day was a success.

Of course, Wednesday morning, Ad woke up with a stuffy nose. By last night, it had progressed to a full blown cold. Is it coincidence that he has a cold 2 days after his first day playing with other children in his class? Why? Why? Why does my child have to catch everything? I know I can't keep him quarantined the rest of his life, but the past 4 months that I have kept him away from other kids (that makes me sound like a bad momma, I know!!) have been absolutely wonderful and sick free!! Oh, well, guess that's just going to be life for a while.

Other than that, we started our Wednesday program back up at church. I teach the GA's (5th and 6th grade) and am looking forward to another great year.

Okay, I have noses to wipe!

You are not alone! Addison had horrible allergy and cold problems last school year. The doctor put her on Singulair and Nasohist last Spring because her nose ran constantly. All summer long we have been Kleenex free until now. She started school on Monday and woke up Wednesday congested with a runny nose. Back to the Kleenex!! The doctor just keeps reminding me that she is building immunity and will soon get past this. I am soo ready for that day to come. Otherwise, I am going to try to invent a faucet for her nose so I can turn it "off."

Just like Addison, Rebecca also kept a runny nose while she was in school. She caught several bad colds and coughs. It all comes with the territory. I remember going to the Valentine's Day party and one little girl was obviously sick. She was teary-eyed and was basically one big booger. I thought, "why did your mother bring you today???" Sure enough, a couple of days later, Rebecca had the same thing. On my part, I try to be respectful to the other children and don't send Rebecca when she is sick and running a fever. You're a good mommy. I'm sure you will do the same.

I also want to say kudos to you for leading GA's! My mom taught our GA group. It was awesome!

Maddie caught a cold on her very first day of school, also. I think they keep it very cold in there. She has to take a jacket,so that could be it.
