I can't believe this whole post is about Dora the Explorer.

But it is.

Apparently, there is an uproar about the new Dora that's supposed to be making her debut in the fall. I believe people in the blog world are calling her, (kids, cover your eyes) Dora the Whora. She is geared to 5-8 year old kids, but I really don't see what the big deal is. Her hair is longer. She is wearing leggings. Woo. Do I really need to compare her to a Bratz girl or My Scene Bling Bling Barbie?
If anything, she is more tame than the Dora that Adler now watches and adores. At least she doesn't show her stomach!

One of the things I read about the new Dora is that she is going to middle school. That is a LOT older than 5-8. That is more in the range of 11-13. What kid that age is going to watch Dora anyway?

well, that's true. I would not let my 5-8 year old watch preteen shows regardless of how modest it may be. And I agree, what preteen would watch Dora anyway!!

HAHA! I think the same thing about the Dora now. She's always showing her stomach! And htey can draw a longer shirt. I mean, come on! Hope all is well with Girl Mason!

I don't see anything wrong with the new Dora. She's cute and dressed appropriately. But, in general, Dora gets on my nerves...no matter what age she is. She yells everything. Of course, Rebecca loves Dora.

I am so out of my wading pool to comment on this one, not having even watched a Dora episode, but I think the drawing you posted of the new Dora is really cute... nothing offensive there... and y'all might be surprised how many preteens sneak and watch cartoons when nobody's watching them, because there's still a lot of child in them at that age... ahem... ummm... I still watch cartoons... Alvin and the Chipmonks... Goofy and donald Duck... uh... sometimes... not often... when Michael is out of the house... after I put the dogs out so they won't tell... did I write that out loud?

Compared to the new Dora, the older one looks like a mutant inbred...I'm sorry!...She does...
