Adler's surgery update

We made it back home around 3 yesterday after a long day! Adler did great in surgery and although yesterday evening was sort of rough, he woke up today as happy as can be. He asked me this morning, "Nose doctor today?" Thank goodness I could say no to that one!

They gave him sedatives before they took him yesterday morning and I wish I would have had my video camera. He was the funniest thing, quick to give out big sloppy kisses and make jokes. He looked at me one time and said, "Happy, momma." I guess he was!

I was not prepared at all to how difficult after surgery would be; I honestly thought he would come out happy and asking for food. He cried and cried and cried, but once the anesthesia and morphine wore off some, he was much better.

The home health people came last night and then again today to show me how to do the pic line iv and I feel much better about it. Now I am just anxious to find out how long we will have to do it.

Thanks for all your prayers and calls yesterday!

Thank you so much for the update. I was praying for it to go well and him to have little or no pain. I remember when Gatlin had surgery (they cut and stretched and sewed back together the tendons in hs leg) when he was about four, and how that happy, loopy, drunkeness before he went in was both funny and sad at the same time... and then the sickness when he came out of the anesthesia... like Adler (and me when I have surgery), he cried and cried and cried. The worst was when his anesthesia wore off, though, because he was in terrible pain for several days... and it was almost more than we could bare... I think he was too young then to remember it now, but I sure do...

But anyway... thank You, Jesus, that our precious Adler came through his surgery so well... and we pray that he never needs surgery again... please keep him healthy and well, and happy and blessed all his days (and nights)... in Jesus' sweet, precious name, Amen...

Most of the time if they can just see momma and daddy that will fix everything. that anes. stuff really knocks them for a loop for a litte bit of time then they usually just snap back. Glad to hear he is doing so well. Kiss him for aunt charlotte

I'm so glad to hear everything went well, and I hope and pray that this surgery was all he will need. I remember all too well what it's like to have your baby taken off for surgery, I did it 3 times with Gatlin and it didn't get any easier each time, either. I'm so very grateful and thankful that there are medical procedures to help when our children need it, of course, but knowing it's for their good doesn't make it easier to go through, if you know what I mean. You're all in my prayers for a quick and easy and complete recovery, all my love to all of you!
