Warning

Please skip the following if you don't find the account of a child's first day of preschool as told in ramblings of a proud momma to be intriguing and stimulating. I know, I know, its not for everyone.

Adler started his first day of playschool Monday morning. Well, actually, it was more of a meet and greet class where he just met his teacher and played with the other kids. Wednsday is his first morning without me. But anyway, Sunday night I was busy busy ironing his clothes and filling out forms, labeling clothes and getting his bookbag together. I was so excited, felt like I was starting a new school year instead of Adler. There, I said it. I was one of "those kids" who pulled out my new bookbag and pencil box for weeks before school was set to start just anticipating the great day.

Anyway, all weekend long I talked to Ad about going to school and playing with his new friends and teacher, and how he was going to have so much fun singing songs, painting and playing with toys. So Monday morning when I got him out of his crib, the first thing I said was that today was the day we got to go to school. He got SO excited, squealing and shrieking with delight. He was running up and down the house laughing and being silly- he was incredibly excited. What's so funny is that he really had no idea what he was excited over, just that he was excited.

He did really well, of course, I was right there. But he went right to the toys and started playing. He sort of kept to himself, but was very observant of the other kids playing. He is one of those kids who doesn't mind getting in YOUR personal space (oh, is that your head I am sitting on?) but is very particular about his own personal space. Unless you are one of the few people that he knows very very well, he gets very nervous and uncomfortable if you are too close. So there were a few altercations with kids who just wanted to play with him, and he didn't really get that. I am hoping playschool will teach him a bit about that. But over-all, he did so well with the kids. I am excited to see him develop over this school year.

Pics to come.

So glad his day was so great. I was the kid who would love getting school supplies. I would always try to write so perfect in those first pages of my new notebooks only later to have my real messy penmanship kick in. I know this year will be so much fun for him. Hopefully Wed. will not be too hard on you leaving him.

Sounds like Adler is doing great! When Rebecca started school last year, it was really hard for me to leave her. But, it really was a great thing for her to be around other kids her age. All that said, she starts school here in September, and I'm still just as nervous as last year! Also, glad to know that I'm not the only mom who irons her baby's clothes.

That comment that says "cory" is from me, "tina". I've got my profile fixed now to where it will come up with my name next time.
